The Shrine Board in its 71st Meeting held on 19th August 2023 had granted in-principle approval for establishment of a 50-seat Medical College at Kakryal, with a long term plan for up-gradation to a 100-seat Medical College subsequently.

IIT Jammu, NIT Srinagar and IIM Jammu have figured among the top 100 institutes in Engineering & Management categories respectively, while SMVDU has earned a place in the top 25 for Architecture. I congratulate all universities and institutes for this remarkable accomplishment.

University of Kashmir has secured 8th rank & University of Jammu has secured 21st rank under State Public Universities category. This is a commendable achievement & a testament to transformative efforts to create world-class teaching & research institutions.

University of Kashmir has secured the 34th position and University of Jammu 51st position in the #NIRF2025 Rankings under the Universities category in the country. In Agriculture & Allied Sectors, SKUAST-K has achieved the 7th rank and SKUAST-J the 23rd position.

The 7 new PG Degree Programmes with 35 seats at GAMC Akhnoor will further strengthen J&K's health architecture and popularize traditional medicine system. The human resource in Ayurveda practices & research and collaborations will help in promoting preventive and holistic care.

Ayurveda, the traditional medicine system has gained global popularity and the people across the world are adopting Ayurveda techniques for healthcare needs of people and well-being of the body, mind & spirit and management of various diseases.

Heartfelt gratitude to Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji & Union MoS(I/C), Ministry of Ayush, Shri Prataprao Jadhav Ji for granting 35 Ayurveda PG Seats for Govt Ayurvedic Medical College, Akhnoor. This is a first for J&K and a huge gift for aspirants of Ayurveda Practices in UT.
