HOW JAPAN BECAME MODERN
Much of Japan’s modernity began its victorious march across the nation from beneath belching smokestacks in early 20th century Osaka.
To see how Japan’s historic transformation unfolded, I looked at three companies in Osaka that helped shape it.

NHK reports that an old pre-war film of the Nagasaki's famous Urakami Cathedral has been discovered. It's believed to have been filmed around 1930, about 5 years after the cathedral's completion.
The original cathedral was destroyed by the atomic bomb.
