Listening to my tape, after VCU police arrived on the scene, they warned protestors they would arrest them for trespassing, waited three minutes, made another warning, and then moved in. All in all it took about 12 minutes between police's arrival and their use of force.

The tide has turned at VCU and police have begun to retreat.
VCU Police, RPD and VSP have turned VCU campus into a war zone because of anti-war protests.
A moment ago, it was announced that they would stay until their demands are meet. Now there is dancing inside the Liberated Zone.
@SagamiCharlie1 Uh oh, better bomb another few thousand children in Gaza, that ought to show Hamas. It's only ok to murder children if you are serving in the Israeli military.
Now with hundreds of people, a rally for Palestine in front of the Cabell Library at VCU is underway. The "Liberation Zone" is in it's 9th hour.
Donations have been rolling in all day. Food, drink, and medical supplies is well stocked up.
Excessive force towards students who are protesting non-violently is unacceptable. The right to assemble peacefully is a hallmark of our democracy, which we must protect.
First Amendment right gone. Going after right to a lawyer too.
Police refused to let attorneys talk with detained protestors on scene. Told us we have to wait till they’re at the jail.
Very disturbed by what has unfolded tonight, and on campuses across the country. I’m not ok with this.

Defund the police, directly fund the universities and eliminate tuition It's frustrating how easy it is to solve so many of our problems. It really is that easy. Not doing a genocide is easy. Most of us don't do a genocide everyday without even trying.
There is just no question that from the time police showed up, the protest at VCU only got bigger. At least three or four hundred by 10pm. One student told me she felt more inclined to support the protesters cause after seeing her classmates tear-gassed by their campus police.
Many students were LITERALLY FORCED to watch as administrators locked down the GLASS building, holding them inside and not allowing them to aid their classmates or leave the scene. Horrific.
