This is a cross-section of a root nodule formed by the nitrogen-fixing bacteria rhizobium in symbiosis with a plant from the legume family. Within the nodule, bacteria convert atmospheric nitrogen into a plant-available form. Several key minerals drive this vital process.

Out scouting wheat for T3 fungicide timing. I'm noticing a fair amount of manganese deficiency in the local crop. Dry/oxygenated soils = lower mn availability. The recent rains have hopefully saturated enough to increase mn availability. Some flag leaves are now dark green.

#Zinc deficiency in plants can occur if leaf content falls <15ppm. Symptoms in maize include stunted growth, light green areas on new leaves, and white bands on the midrib. Deficiency symptoms can resemble Mn & Fe deficiencies, so a leaf tissue test is needed for confirmation
