One of the mysteries over the last 7yrs has been hearing the brusque, hostile, demanding spirit in so many of my brothers & sisters inChrist who are championing "political nationalism". Honestly. The spirit feels foreign to me. It's not the spirit of the Kingdom I've grown up in.

Maybe one of the "spot-on reads" on the plethora of conspiracy theories in this hour, I've read yet. When our paradigms shift, we all go back to zero. That's a scary place... unless your God invites you into His Kingdom with "Blessed are the poor..."

It reveals how little we Christians actually believe that Christ conquered sin and death on the cross when we treat our religion like a war that hasn’t been won rather than a work of compassion and treat the world as an enemy to be conquered rather than a neighbor to be loved.

Imagine if we Christians pursued dismantling systems of poverty, barriers to healthcare, demanded livable wages, paid family leave, affordable childcare, and ruthlessly worked to end violence with the same passion so many of us pursue winning a “culture war.”

When disciples live according to Kingdom, they will certainly be counterculture in our individualistic, consumer culture that knows little of devotion, let alone unity. Thankful for the Christians who take Jesus seriously enough to live out His ethics with one another.

History of the American Empire--and lack of salt-light-works believers (Mat 5:13-16). We have always needed more salt-light-works ethics (Mat 5:13-16) from Christians who are committed to the Kingdom of God rather than to the American Empire with its Mammon, Mars, Aphrodite.
