Given #Ebola has reached Kampala- which has a major international airport- it would be good if UK followed US in screening passengers from Uganda- checks at airports and monitoring for 21 days. And helped Ugandan govt/MSF manage outbreak esp bc no vaccine yet for this strain.

This govt is scared of water companies dumping sewage exposing that due to Brexit they can’t get hold of chemicals needed to treat raw sewage… So the govt turn a blind eye while the sewage dumps into our waters increase by (and this is incredible) 2,900% in 5 years.

There were 20398 people in hospital yesterday with Covid. The highest figure for 13 months. In the last 24hrs 50202 new cases were recorded & 368 more deaths. Not a word from the media about the Tories devastating “ living with covid plan” It’s criminal!!!

Latest DfE data shows bad situation. 400K kids off cos of Covid on 20 Jan. Worst are primary schools where 6.2% of kids are off for Covid vs 3.6% of secondary school kids. 2 weeks into term. But cases growing in 2ndry school too - and gov just removed masks. Protect schools

This is frankly ridiculous- it's not up to @nadhimzahawi to decide whether schools continue masks or not- the responsibility towards students and staff lies with schools and local authorities - they are liable, and DfE has no authority to suspend mask use. @GoodLawProject

this study pretty much rules out 5 day isolation in my opinion. The other caveat is that (I think) the LFD study efficacy is based on is nose + throat and not just nose as current LFDs. Not clear what impact that has on missing positives...

Would love to see more headteachers and schools going beyond DfE advice, based and implementing evidence-based public health measures to keep children, staff and communities safe. Given DfE guidance is putting families at risk, we need leadership like this.

These numbers are v. high. We need a primary cause breakdown by age to really understand the impact of the omicron surge on children. What are government's plan for opening schools safely in just a few days, given the vast majority of children aren't even being offered vaccines?
