Wildfire smoke from Canada will return behind a cold front today. Those sensitive to poor air quality will want to take precautions. You can monitor air quality in your area at fire.airnow.gov
Strong northwest winds will move into area behind a cold front this afternoon. Gusts up to 45-50 mph are expected in portions of southeast South Dakota between 3 PM & 10 PM, and a Wind Advisory is in effect. Take action to secure loose outdoor items & drive with caution.
A warm day is on tap for today, with a few late day storms possible ahead of an approaching cold front.
The front will usher in a stretch of more Fall-like temperatures and if you have cold-sensitive plants outdoors, you'll want to monitor those nighttime lows.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop this evening mainly across southwestern MN. A few storms could become severe with ping-pong ball sized hail and up to 70 mph wind gusts being the primary threats.

While isolated storms could become severe today, the better chances will be on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Damaging winds and locally heavy rain will be the main threats.
It's not the heat, it's the humidity!
While high temperatures today will be seasonally hot, from the upper 80s to mid 90s, dew point temperatures in the mid and upper 70s will make it very difficult for the body to cool itself. Stay safe out there today!
