CRISP Persistent Concept Unlearning via Sparse Autoencoders
Really cool new work on using SAEs to precisely & permanently erase harmful concepts from LMs. WMDP splits consist of intertwined benign & harmful concepts (e.g. virus potency vs treatment), and precision is paramount to maintain fluency. We find SAEs can guide precise erasure!
