Elk Fire Update: These recent pictures and video taken by our Brush Truck 11 crew show the close proximity of the Elk Fire and the Lee Fire. Both fires are in Rio Blanco County, and both near the town of Meeker. Please refer to Rio Blanco Sheriff FB page for official info.
Brush Truck 11 remains deployed at the Elk Fire, which has grown significantly due to the hot, dry, and windy conditions. The fire is now at 13,025 acres. Yesterday the crew focused on structure protection efforts, which they will continue today as conditions remain challenging.
Early this morning, 896 answered a 3 alarm fire at 722 N Marsalis. First in companies had heavy fire showing from the vacant structure. Fire also spread to the building next door.
Not kidding- there’s a large boulder the size of a small CAR in the center of Highway 145 mm 75.5. Deputies on scene directing alternating lanes of traffic. CDOT in route.
Front Range Fire Rescue is on the scene of a gas fire. Hwy 60 between CR13 and CR15 are CLOSED. Please avoid the area until further notice. #frontrangefirerescue
