22 months in, and I still can find more accurate info about Covid on Twitter than if I had to instead rely on articles in NYTimes by Monica Gandhi, New Yorker by Dhruv Khullar, etc, and official signs from my govt (all emphasize hand-washing) 1/

We need governments to: - fund ventilation upgrades for offices & schools - give everyone N95s - set indoor air quality standards - pay people to stay home if sick or quarantining - educate public Airborne spread - educate public LongCovid & PEM - biomed research #TreatLongCovid

Capitalising the B in Black is often a point of political resistance + cultural pride. Under anti-blackness all Black people are conflated into monolith, resisting that leads us to Black + Blackness. For that reason, capitalising the W in white makes me think two things:

No matter where you sit in an organization, it's easy to look at the level above you and wonder what the hell they're thinking. When you step into a leadership role yourself, it can be a shock to realize that the folks on the level below are thinking exactly the same about you

If you ask someone to do something that benefits you (and not them, even though they’re the ones giving their time and expertise) if they say no, regardless of the reasons, please respect that and don’t push them. Also normalize paying people for their time?

One depressing aspect of the pandemic is how countries refuse to learn from other countries. Within a country, states refuse to learn from other states. Many refuse to learn from history. Many believe in exceptionalism, that they won’t face what everyone else has. 1/

Today I heard one of the worst engineering takes to exist. “Documentation shouldn’t be necessary if the engineers are competent in what they’re doing.” No. Documentation is for future you, for new teammates, and for anyone who can’t memorize everything they ever do.
