The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded a portion of NE Nebraska and west-central Iowa to a Slight Risk (level 2/5) for severe weather tonight. Two rounds of storms possible, first from 4-8 PM and second overnight from 12-4 AM.

A complex of thunderstorms will rumble across South Dakota tonight and move into extreme northeast Nebraska by 11 pm. These storms would bring a threat of damaging wind gusts, a short-lived tornado or two, and heavy rain. Most will remain dry.

While there may be some isolated thunderstorms north of I-90 today, the better chance for severe storms will be this evening into tonight and especially near and south of I-90. If you have outdoor plans, please remain weather aware.

Another round of stronger storms will develop this evening mainly south of highway-18. While all modes of severe weather will be possible, large hail and damaging winds will be the primary threats. Make sure to have a reliable way to receive warning information!

Thunderstorms will move east into the region late this evening and overnight. The severe thunderstorm risk has increased with the primary threat being damaging winds up to 75 mph. Have multiple ways to receive warnings and be ready to seek shelter if storms approach your area.

Damaging winds up to 70 mph will be the primary threat as storms move southeast across the area during the late afternoon and evening. While a lesser threat, large hail up to half dollar size will also be possible. If you have outdoor plans, stay weather aware!

A cluster or strong to severe storms is expected to push into the area this evening into the overnight period. Damaging wind gusts (60 mph) will be the primary concern. However, hail (1" in diameter), a brief tornado, and locally heavy rainfall will also be possible.

Late day/evening July 4th activities may be interrupted by Mother Nature’s fireworks, with a Level 1 of 5 risk for severe storms. Storms are more likely in areas west of I-29 during the evening, moving east overnight. Those with outdoor plans will want to stay weather aware!

Forecast overnight into Monday morning has scattered showers and t-storms spreading east across the area. Here's a simulation of what the radar might look like thru 8 am. If camping or traveling, beware that brief heavy rain, lightning strikes, and gusty winds will be possible.

Strong to severe storms will continue moving across southern NE through 6 AM. Damaging winds are the greatest hazard with the strongest storms, and the greatest potential is in the darker red shaded areas.

Storms are developing, and between 2 PM and 4 PM the greatest chance for a few strong to severe storms with torrential rain is in the darkest blue shaded region.

2-4" per hour rainfall rates likely: Thunderstorms with the threat of wind gusts over 50 mph and very heavy rainfall rates will expand across northeast NE and northwest IA through the remainder of the afternoon into the evening. Be prepared for potentially dangerous conditions.

Our active pattern continues today with severe chances returning this evening (level 1 risk out of 5) into the overnight hours, while the threat for heavy rain lingers through Thursday (level 2 risk out of 4). Be sure to check the latest forecast if you have outdoor plans!

Updated severe weather outlooks for Monday have shifted slightly lower in some locations. Greatest storm potential after 3pm looks to from along and east of a line from Yankton to Marshall. Risks further west will be tied to storms overnight.

Severe storms are possible this afternoon and evening as a cold front pushes through the area. Large hail and damaging winds are the primary hazards though a tornado is also possible. Locally heavy rainfall is also on the table if multiple storms track over the same location.

Shower and storm chances return to the region, with the highest chances Wednesday through Thursday night. A few storms during this time could be strong to severe, with the main threats large hail and damaging wind gusts. Locally heavy rain is also possible.

⛈️Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms with wind and hail are possible Wednesday afternoon & evening across northeast Nebraska and a large portion of Iowa. 🌡️Temperatures will also warm this week with many locations topping out in the lower to mid 90s for highs on Wednesday.

There is a risk for strong to severe thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening. Threats include hail up to 2 inches, strong wind gusts to 60 mph, as well as an isolated tornado. The area most likely to see severe weather is northeastern NE and northwestern IA.

Severe storm potential returns for Sunday and Monday. However, questions still remain on some of the details and threat areas could still shift. Make sure to keep an eye on the forecast.
