سیدنا ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا : جس نے مجھ پر ایک بار درود پڑھا، اللہ تعالیٰ اس پر دس رحمتیں نازل کرے گا۔ (مسند احمد : 5711)
حضرت انس رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ یوں فرمایا کرتے: ’’ اے اللہ ! میں نکمے پن ‘ بے جا سستی ‘ شدید بڑھاپے ‘ کنجوسی اور بزدلی سے تیری پناہ میں آتا ہوں ‘ نیز قبر کے عذاب اور زندگی اور موت کے فتنے سے تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں ۔‘‘ (سنن نسائی،۵۴۵۴)

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : اے اللہ! ان دونوں یعنی ابوجہل اور عمر بن خطاب میں سے جو تجھے محبوب ہو اس کے ذریعہ اسلام کو طاقت و قوت عطا فرما، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : تو ان دونوں میں سے عمر اللہ کے محبوب نکلے۔ (جامع ترمذی : 3681)
