I would be wary of analysis saying "young men fueled Trump's push for victory" etc. Early on, it seems the reality is even more impressive for Trump. This wasn't a coalition thing, and it wasn't really strategic targeting. He just...did better *everywhere*. With almost everyone.

Dems won the midterms in 2018. They took back the White House and Senate in 2020. In 2022, they dramatically over performed and held the Senate even with the headwinds of a lousy economy. I wish I had a good explanation for how it all fell apart this evening

#PASen and #WISen both look like they could come down to a couple tenths of a percent at the moment. And while it's mostly a coin flip, I'd say it's still a coin just-so-slightly weighted to the GOP at the moment. Slotkin looks better in #MISen, but it'll be very close there too

I need people to look at the whole picture. It's not just Kamala losing, it's democratic senators, and progressive legislation losing all over the country. This is about the majority of voters deciding to push the country to the far right altogether. It's far beyond Kamala.

@LemieuxLGM I really think folks are gonna learn the wrong lessons from this outcome, when it was pretty damn close to unicausal: voters hate inflation and blame the party in power for it. Dems underperformed relative to Trump's shittiness but overperformed relative to the global trend.

The exit polls, the popular vote, the massive swings red in the senate, all indicate that this country has moved incredibly far to the right (something that has been clear in our discourse and media for years). It's simply not true that this was about Kamala not being left enough
