Friendly reminder that many scientists need 5-6 hrs of uninterrupted lab time to get their experiments done. Something to think about before scheduling that mid-day event. Attending a lunch time seminar means either losing the experiment day or staying till 7-8 pm.

New paper! pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35952602/ Spot the Campy culture/qPCR positive chicken flocks with predominant variant, vs those that are culture/qPCR negative. We are still able to detect diverse variants at low quantities in these samples using parallel sequencing....

BIGSdb v1.35.2 has been released. This adds support for a new isolate field type to natively support GPS coordinates for use in mapping. Both OpenStreetMap and Bing maps are supported – the latter offering map and aerial views. Maps are shown within isolate record pages.

The standard line in papers ( when we actually get acknowledged)“ …libraries were sequenced using the Illumina Novaseq 6000 ….” usually took days-months of work . A lot of expertise also is required most of the time. Core facility people should get more love ❤️.
