Enjoy this resin-cast replica of an early nineteenth century wooden carved & painted toy that belonged to the Macarthur children at #ElizabethFarm. Once thought to be a sheep, it’s probably a spotted deer or chital, indigenous to northern India, where the original is likely from.
In winter, the fireplace in #ElizabethFarm drawing room was often the focus of the house. Installed around 1826, a page of very similar designs, watermarked 1822 survives in the Macarthur archive, showing a dove (grey) marble fireplace like the one costing £18 #DiscoverSLM
