I think @Ledger_Support was trying to solve the "recover crypto when seed phrase is lost" and had good intentions in announcing the update. However, the way they had announced it and the fact that the update is not open source creates a "we need to put our trust in Ledger now"

Looking at the data on a Daily basis, we can see the first ever inscription on BTC was on 14 Dec 2022 as an image file and started to explode in use since the start of Feb 2023 with the majority of mints/inscriptions being image files. (3/x)

In this example, I found out what constitutes as a mint (or inscription with satoshis in bitcoin's case). here is what an inscription looks like in the Op code for bitcoin / taproot script. Technically, and Ordinal can be an image, video, text, audio, etc. (2/x)
