the policy of most cities to simply harass and arrest homeless people until they leave to another city. Its the logic of terrorism. Our media sees this policy, clearly, but since they also see a couple social workers w/ clipboards standing next to the cops they call it “outreach”

Across @cityoftoronto, funding for community-based #homelessness services, incl. drop-ins, housing help, and outreach, has been cut dramatically, and shelter access is non-existent — 100+ people are turned away from shelter beds. It's untenable now, but winter will be deadly. /1

THREAD. You have to admire the New York Times. After two years of often hysterical crime coverage based on murder/shooting increases and downplaying decreases in other police-reported crime, now that murder/shootings are down, it's time to do the old switcheroo.
