Experts are predicting that all standing records will be shattered during this year's 500 mile sweepstakes
NEWS: Speedway Management has announced that 31 cars have entered the twelfth running of the 500-Mile International Sweepstakes. For the first time in several years, no foreign mounts have been entered.
HEALTH UPDATE: Danish driver Frithiof Ramsen, who was transported to the Methodist Hospital is said to have cuts and bruises but otherwise, dodged serious injuries. He is expected back to the track within the next few days.
PRACTICE CRASH: Danish driver, Frithiof Ramsey lost control of his Barber-Warnock Special, skidding into the retaining wall at the south turn before turning turtle. Ramsen was taken to Methodist Hospital to be evaluated. More will be known shortly.
TRACK ACTIVITY: Practice will be in full swing within the next week. So far, Cliff Durant, Eddie Hearne and Harlan Fengler have been out on the track. Fengler reportedly reached 104 mph during one run.
PILOT ALERT: Frithiof Ramsen, Danish driver is in Indianapolis and will be competing in the 500 mile race on May 30. Ramsen is 26 years old, has driven French, German and Belgian cars and has won four of six major events at the Copenhagen Motor Speedway.
DRIVER ALERT: Master Mechanic of Cliff Durant's racing team, Fred Comer, will be driving in the 500 mile in Indianapolis on Decoration Day for Durant's team. #Indy500
DRIVER ALERT: Harry Hartz, the young star who has finished second in the 500 mile race twice, will try again with a Durant Special!
MEET THE DRIVER: Ernie Ansterberg A native of Concord, MI, Ernie has been regarded as one of the most efficient riding mechanics in the game. He has ridden with successful drivers such as Joe Boyer, Louis Chevrolet and Roscoe Sarles. On May 30, Ernie will race for glory.
Haywith Thompson drove blindfolded around Indianapolis Motor Speedway yesterday. Thompson, a World War veteran, lost his eyesight during combat, however claims to have a "third" eye that allows him to see. Physicians and scientists cannot explain his abnormal sight.
PILOT ALERT: Officials of the Laurel Motor Company announce that Jimmy Rossi will drive the Roof Special. Rossi, an Italian driver, holds the AAA championship in New England.
NEWS: 3 Barber-Warnock Specials will be entered in the upcoming 500 mile race. These are 75% Ford parts. A car exactly like the three Barber-Warnock Specials surprised everybody and finished FIFTH last year. Pictured below is pilot of said car, Lora L Corum
NEW ENTRY ALERT: Wonder kid of the board tracks, 21 year-old Harlan Fengler will pilot a car in the 500 Mile Sweepstakes. Only a year into his racing career, Fengler has already beaten proven veterans and will be a favorite come Memorial Day.
Ticket sales are going fast -- faster than in any other former year! Race fans are taking no chances this year and are swamping the speedway office with requests for tickets so act now!
