I don't think the lineup was the problem. You can't start Eze a week after he was signed with only a few training sessions with the team. It would've been too physical for Nwaneri from the start too me thinks. It was the subs, Arteta got them on too late.
It's not like Liverpool were amazing either, neither team did anything of note. Liverpool just had that one unbelievable free kick. You are right to question Arteta's intent and the timing of the subs, but neither team deserved to win that game.
@1_2spaces Eze is fit to start...you start him. He doesn't need no gel sessions. Lets just call a spade a spade. Mikel is risk adverse and boarderline cowardly.
@1_2spaces Why couldn’t Eze start? Doesn’t need any time to bed in to play against a midfielder at right back. Quite literally anyone would’ve been a better option than Martinelli
@1_2spaces Eze’s played in the community shield and first week of the league. He’s more than ready to start
@1_2spaces Why can’t you? He had a full week to prepare for the fix, same as everyone else, he’s also had a full pre season and started the season with Palace, you think someone of his quality would forget how to play football if thrown in?
@1_2spaces Tbf I think Eze could have started lw no problem
@1_2spaces That Eze analogy is plain stupid 😂😂😂I knew people would say that What then is the essence of throwing the bag at a pl proven player Fck would have been too physical for Lamine Yamal as well teenage Messi 🙄🙄
@1_2spaces Merino was everything wrong with the line up
@1_2spaces Also, you have to feel Gyokeres could have come off at some point. He had trouble getting into the game imo.
@1_2spaces He didnt get em too late either, were 0-0 and Liverpool had tired legs.
@1_2spaces @grok Given the late subs, what tactical patterns might Arteta have been aiming for with those substitutions, and what impact did the timing likely have on the team's performance against opponents with a full week of training?
@1_2spaces Football ain't fucking rocket science mate, it ain't like Eze would have no fucking clue what was going on or something He's an elite fucking footballer, match fit, you fucking start him But this manager is too much of a pussy to do that, he played for a 0:0 draw from the jump
@1_2spaces Yes that’s what killed the game , eze & nwaneri should have come on from 60 mins then bring in dowman like 80 mins , arteta acted like he was waiting to see what slot does and not having a plan himself
@1_2spaces I actually thought same thing...the first half was spot on but I expected an early introduction of Eze and friends in the second half
@1_2spaces Eze is a senior professional football player , 27 and in his prime. You start your best attacking option in a game about scoring goals, possession and creativity . The defence was never going to fall it . We sabotaged ourselves by cutting our attack for no reason
@1_2spaces That's why we can't win anything, take a risk and join the millionaires
@1_2spaces So what happened to odegaard?😒 This your analysis is even flawed, Eze played against Chelsea this season, is fit, have PL experience, wtf is going to happen if he starts? What's the worst thing that'll happen? Lose? Now let me ask you, did we win? Arteta is a coward!
@1_2spaces 💯 it was the subs, it was too late.. I think that was just the problem..(late subs)
@1_2spaces That's just it, too late... They should've started the second half
@1_2spaces @21KarimSaad Too late, to be honest, we should've brought Eze up by half time itself, then he would've had eno time to perform his magic.
