My 2025 NFL Hot Take is the Lions missing the playoffs. Dan Campbell is not an elite coach, as he is not a playcaller on either side of the ball and thus has a lower ceiling. Losing both stud coordinators to HC gigs is going to hurt this team. Injuries on defense will kill them.
Here were the top 10 RBIS scores from RBs based on their 2024 college seasons. Jeanty the clear #1. Tuten, Skattebo, Kaleb and Hampton round out the top 5. RBIS is my proprietary rushing metric that combines MTF/Att with YAC/Att and stabilizes with YBC/Att.
Jonathan Taylor's regression has been happening for the last couple of years. If we compare 2024 to 2022: MTF/Att dropped by .1 (-45%) YAC/Att dropped by 0.4 (-13%) Yet he had the highest YBC/Att of the last 3 years by a wide margin in 2024. Fries and Kelly are gone now too.
Reminder that Jonathan Taylor is on regression watch after positing a bottom 10 RBIS score among all backs with at least 80 carries last season. Very poor 0.12 MTF/Att and below average YAC/Att does not bode well for a 26 year old RB.
