So much wrong with our judicial system - paltry fines, appatently no POCA, suspended prison despite previous offences and it took 7 years to get to prosecution. Waste crime certainly does pay. gov.uk/government/new…

Strong concern from the glass packaging industry over EPR based fees costs. Eg drinks manufacturer putting 10k tns glass packaging onto UK market will pay c. £300k PRN costs in 2024. In 2025 they will pay £3.3m on higher base fee. If PRNs cost £100/t, they wud pay another £740k.

Latest EPR producer list shows 6,140 producers have registered, coincidentally, virtually the same as have registered under the 2007 regs (6,143). @asda seems to be the only major supermarket missing from both lists.....

Plastic packaging waste exports to non-OECD countries hit new highs in 2023 averaging 23.4% raising concerns on the UK's recycling rate if a ban comes into force. With proposed EU exports bans, it will put huge pressure on OECD, primarily Turkey.
