Today we had our first ‘Miss how much does it cost to take a book out?’ student of the year. I will never get over how bittersweet these moments are - libraries are amazing, lose them at your peril.

Reason 1257748 my job is the best in the world: today I discovered one of my students was using a shoe box to carry his book around in because he loves it & didn’t want it to get damaged in his school bag (yes of course I gave him a free book bag). The kids are alright guys.

Probably the most well loved book on my shelves, as a child I slept with it, I could read it to my kids by heart, I think it taught me what a book should be. A fond farewell to the incomparable Allan Ahlberg, and everlasting thanks.
