Asadullah Khalis, CSJWG representative for the Eastern Provinces: “One of the ways to curb corruption is through the rule of law. Toward this end, availing the access to information right and evidence-based claims of corruption are the ways forward” #ReachingOutForPeace#Panel_D
Asadullah Khalis, CSJWG representative for the Eastern Provinces: “existence of mafia, land grabbers, and armed opposition groups are the main impediments before the rule of law in the Eastern Provinces” #ReachingOutForPeace#Panel_Discussion

So far, the focus of Afghan peace talks in Doha has been to achieve a negative peace (absence of war & violence) and guarantee an agreement. Only a positive peace could effectively end the conflict in AFG and lead to a sustainable peace. #ReachingOutForPeace#Presentation
Negative peace creates the conditions for positive peace. For peace to be durable, all efforts shall be directed toward creating a positive peace. #ReachingOutForPeace#Presentation
In negative peace, where the warring parties only agree on a treaty, the likelihood of bouncing back to conflict is high; whereas, in positive peace, society is able to absorb shocks without falling back into conflict. #ReachingOutForPeace#Presentation
Negative vs. Positive Peace
Negative peace refers to the absence of war and violence; while, positive peace means the root causes of conflict have been identified and addressed. #ReachingOutForPeace#Presentation
