The negativity towards this is mind boggling. For too many children, school is a safer space than home, and having this facility is an opportunity for children to opt into. As for staff, I've done school trips where I've been on duty well into the early hours.

The responses to this are ridiculous. Being there for someone without conditions doesn't mean that you are unpaid or overworked. It simply means it's not a quid pro quo. I know teachers who can't drop past misbehaviour. People need to be more aware of Carl Rogers.

Went to the zoo today. My favourite things in AP are school trips. Some had never been before. One has never left their town. The squeals, smiles, and yes, even the odd "f-ing hell!" always sparks joy. For obvious reasons, I can't share pics of the kids. So here is a leopard.

The vast majority of times that people say "they need some resilience", the child in question has shown more resilience in their life so far than most of their peers. Too often it's a lazy way for an adult to say "I've run out of ideas to help, so you'll have to bridge the gap."
