"A startling discovery," Optimus laughed. "I wasn't aware you had it in you to crack jokes." He was amused, at best, but Optimus couldn't deny the fact that he was endeared by Soundwave's attempt at humor. "It's a good look on you."

"Certainly," Optimus chuckled, unconvinced. A drunker Soundwave—the Soundwave he was used to—would have better seen him dead, on-the-spot. But Optimus was never one to pry. He was masterful at changing subjects, however. "Have you heard from your symbionts?"

'Yes,' wanted to be his immediate answer. But his optics danced over Soundwave's indigo silhouette, neon under the bar's ambient lamplight. His frame was particularly relaxed. Optimus tapped the edge of the glass against his chin. "You," he rumbled. "Your sudden amicability."
