A third reason people abuse animals is because they enjoy hurting things, or it makes them feel above others and powerful.
Others may abuse animals intentionally, but these people are usually younger. They usually aren't thinking, or are letting their anger out.
Most animal abusers don't realize what they're doing is wrong, and the harm to the animal isn't intentional.
Jesse James and Michael Vick were found having their dogs participate in dog fights.
To help with animal cruelty, you can contact the American Humane Association.
Of the 1,880 reported cases of animal abuse in 2007, 64.5% (1,212) involved dogs.
