Seeing more hedge fund billionaires getting into the music industry is inspiring. I guess we are in the golden age of music!!!

We all have to do our part to get the industry going the right direction. Labels stop signing creatives because of numbers. The numbers don’t always translate to success. Creatives take your time develop your craft. The consumer must also demand more from both!!

Either one can compete in that space or two possibly be her protege once she relinquishes her throne. Think about it the 80’s gave us MJ, the 90’s gave us his protege Usher and the 2000’s gave us Chris brown!! Who’s replacing Chris brown when he relinquish his throne?? I’ll wait!

Moral of the story: Artists,spend more time developing your craft and focus on creating an undeniable product that both the label and the artist can make a rate of return on. Labels, focus on truly developing the artist and thoroughly understanding the artist vision.

The artist responsibility is to create a sellable product that the label can make their rate of return on their investment. If both parties come in understanding that than typically the relationship is fruitful between the artist and the label!

Both the label and the artist should come into the partnership with an with a clear understanding that both entities have to invest in each other. Labels invest resources such as marketing, artist development, funding and more.

We have to be real with each other as creatives. Not every label is out to rob the artist!! The relationship between a label and a artist should be a partnership. Both understanding each other’s vision and holding each other accountable.
