Primary 5 carried out a STEM challenge using only straws, paper and tape to create a replica of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. They did a class talk discussing their strategies and how they collaborated. @AddiewellPS

The rain stayed off for outdoor learning today & P1 had a successful bug hunt in the woods. We used descriptive language to present our new wee pals to the class - these included ‘a huge leopard slug’, ‘a stripy snail with long antennae’ & ‘a sleepy little millipede’.

P1 are excited to have butterflies - we are still caring for our one remaining caterpillar! We have been learning what living things need & planted our very own beanstalks yesterday - we have placed one in the dark, one in the cold & one without water - what will happen??

P5 were introduced to the binary system today! We learned that everything on a computer can be represented by binary code then looked at one way binary code can be used to represent colours and created some pixel art.

Primary 1 learned about the moon today. We found out that there are mountains and craters on the moon. We investigated objects of different sizes and weights, and threw these from two different heights, to see how this affected the sizes of craters they made in our moon dust!

No digital devices meant some coding unplugged for P5 today! We tried some different algorithms to draw a monster & agreed that we definitely need to be accurate and precise with our instructions. Then we coded some sequences for secret handshakes - we were very creative! 🤝
