At Uber 10y ago, the #1 customer complaint was that ETAs were increasing and you “couldn’t get a car anymore”. The data showed the opposite - rapidly decreasing ETAs. The hedonic treadmill applies to all great steps forward - almost to the point that it is evidence for them.
