Balloons Going up for a glow. You may see some leave, don’t be alarmed there is not enough room on the field for all our balloons at once! No driving on the BALLOON FIELD once lights are out at nine for fireworks (that includes golf carts) till lights are back on for safety.
We still plan to try and glow! No flight tonight but we are still waiting for winds to die as forecast.
We are on a wind hold this evening until at re-briefing at 6:00pm. Pilots and Crews will do some alternate competition for a little while.
Sorry for the lack of tweet this morning ; we were moving fast to launch for the key grab! A final tether and fun flight this afternoon.
Several has asked why we put down. We did have a thunder cell system to our north. From the ground this system didn’t look dangerous but these develop fast with lightning and outflow winds. The decision was made to put down early for the safety of the pilots, crews and crowd.
Our apologies for missed posts. So many people at the park caused the internet cell signals to be crowded out and several posts did not make it through. Thanks those who came out and saw our evening flight and display; we did have to put down early due to deteriorating weather.
The pilots have gathered and flights, tethers and the glow is a go!!
The race this morning is unfortunately canceled. However, pilots are clear to fly at their own discretion. We will at least have a few balloons up on the field.
We are on a 30 minute weather hold due to some unexpected light showers that we are hoping will dissipate.
The pilot briefing for the 46th Alabama Jubilee Hot Air Balloon Classic is happening now and we are excited for a great looking weekend of flight and fun!!
