Dear @carolvorders - if the polls continue to look like this one from @IpsosUK, then the Tories are toast - for now. We won’t need #TacticalVoting to get a Labour government but we will be living in a one-party state. Shouldn’t we plan to #VoteTactically to #GetPRDone?
@Andrew_F_Smith @carolvorders @IpsosUK Why not decimate the tories then campaign for PR in another 4 years ? Slowly slowly..
@Andrew_F_Smith @carolvorders @IpsosUK Tactical voting usually means backing the candidate in your constituency with the best chance of beating the Tories - whether Labour, LibDem, Green, SNP or Plaid (obv not right-wing parties). That would increase the number of pro-PR MPs in Parliament (LibDems & possibly Greens).
@Andrew_F_Smith @carolvorders @IpsosUK Yep too much power to Labour who are centre right. The best thing that could happen to this country is that the Tories don’t make the opposition shadow government. We need to take back control of government from big business.
@Andrew_F_Smith @carolvorders @IpsosUK No. You can't nuance voting like that. Dangerous to think you can. You can tactically vote to get a govt out, that's all. You can't tactically vote to get the exact proportion of MPs from different parties you want. You just endanger the getting the govt out project.
@Andrew_F_Smith @carolvorders @IpsosUK How many people polled there will change their mind when they actually enter the polling booth? It's one thing to say in anger "I won't vote Tory" but when it comes to it on the day, how many will change their mind? It's a dangerous game.
