His father, a man of honour and courage, was at his residence the entire day and was not involved in the protests nor was his family. This is not to say those who were part of the protests are rightly criminalised. His father refused to with the police in their vehicle.

citing illegality in the construction. As per the notice, their house would be demolished tomorrow at 11.00 am. This is clearly not a case of police investigation but revenge from a family whose members have been actively involved in community building and organisation.

To set the records straight: Afreen Fatima's father, Mr Javed Muhammad, who is a community leader in Allahabad was not arrested initially. Dozens of policemen reached his residence in Kareilly area of Allahabad and asked him to accompany them for some 'baat cheet'.

Her mother and sister have been kept at an undisclosed location by the police since last night. The police has not allowed family and lawyers to visit them. At around 10.30 pm tonight, they put up a notice at their residence asking the residents to leave the property

It has been 24 hours since Afreen Fatima's parents who are diabetic patient & her younger sister were taken away. Her father needs an insulin injection daily at night & her mother is on medication but despite many tries, the police refused to let the family provide the medicines.
