6 members obtained their Swift Water Rescue Technician certification over the weekend down in Newfane VT. Great class put on by Rescue Inc VEMSA with lead instructor Mike Mather from Mather Rescue.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Firefighter Rodney Pitts. Rodney succumbed to injuries sustained on yesterday’s fire in the 5200 Blk of Linden Heights Ave. Rodney graduated the Baltimore City Fire Academy in July.

Over the last 5 days BFD has responded to 217 calls for service in the city and Friday is not over yet. While the heat and humidity did not help, the overdoses and medical transports due to intoxication and mental health continue to push an unsustainable tempo w/ current staffing
