Thoroughly enjoying and learning from @tromano 's "The Freaks Came Out To Write." Remarkable oral history of The Village Voice @villagevoice . Led to it while reading Greg Tate's work, cannot recommend highly enough, the story of the Voice is also the story of NYC & our culture!

"Frontloading" as organizational strategy? For efficiency & ease, do small steps that enable you to "get rolling" on things easily. For one (age 30) client, setting out their clothes & meds the night before was key; no muddling about in a.m. @adhdFamilies @adhd @Mollys_ADHD ⌚️

Developing dependable time estimates for how long frequent school/work tasks take is very useful for people w/ PDD/ASD; how long did it take to read & take notes on 25 pages of "The Great Gatsby" last time? "Well, I have 20 pages to do tonight so I should plan on this much time."

Estimating & remembering how long a task will take to complete is helpful to all folks, esp those with developmental delays; 15 minutes to chop vegetables for a stir-fry or an hour? Having that knowledge makes it easier to plan backwards from when dinner is served #autism #ADHD

Seems like using "disability" in most situations is not the wrong thing when speaking generally, but I like it when person with unique-ability lets me know how they prefer to address it when we are speaking about them specifically. Grasp the overall meaning with personalization.

I have worked with clients with that diagnosis that found open plan hugely distracting due to overwhelming sound/visual stimulations; we worked to use headphones/noise cancelling devices and tried to set up in spots w/ wall/other bland visual as background. Easy accommodations!

Tremendous video, the learning partnership between these two loving individuals so clearly illustrated! ZPD also applicable in work w/ neuro-diverse individuals who are older than the person seen here, and it strikes me that anyone in any setting can benefit from this approach.
