@Baobab_RPC is excited to collaborate with the Ugandan government @Mglsd_UG, @OPMUganda, @RefugeesAfrica, Kiryandongo District Local Government and @WindleUganda to pilot a school-based intervention to respond to the needs of child survivors of sexual violence.
On the final day of the Prospective Morbidity Survey (PMS) training, our trainees are set to return to their respective facilities across Ethiopia and they are fully prepared to conduct this crucial survey. In keeping with tradition, we captured this milestone with a group photo!

This week, the @Baobab_RPC team is excited to be back in Uganda, working with a knowledgeable team of interviewers, and delivering data collection training ahead of our mixed-methods study on ‘Addressing Unintended Pregnancy in Refugee Settings in Uganda’.
Following the conclusion of the @Baobab_RPC's intensive AICM training and pilots in Addis Ababa, our dedicated teams of research assistants have now traveled back to their respective survey sites and officially started data collection to drive meaningful improvements in SRHR.
On the final day of the AICM training in Addis Ababa, our field team engaged in more mock interviews, refining their skills and ensuring readiness for the field. The day concluded with a group photo, a testament to our hard work, collaboration, and shared vision!!

We discussed aspects such as effectiveness (whether programmes are leading to positive change); feasibility (resources and capacity exist to implement); viability (activities are sustainable and scalable); and, desirability (they reflective of the needs of the beneficiaries).
We spent the day participating in community-led reflections and proof of concept assessments, which are centered on building, testing, and refining small-scale models designed to #endFGM.
“Find something you love to do, and you'll never have to work a day in your life.” We were on the road this morning, headed to Suswa from Narok! It was cold and foggy, yet we had a gracious reception from community leaders and members, including the Chief and Ward Administrator.
Our findings underscore the necessity of targeted and nuanced interventions, stringent enforcement of anti-FGM laws, and increased community and health professional engagement to eliminate this harmful practice across all demographics and regions within the country.
Findings also show a disturbing trend, with an increase in the proportion of health professionals conducting FGM (medicalisation), particularly in Nyamira and Kisii counties.
Worryingly, there is a trend indicating a shift to younger ages at which FGM is performed, particularly with an observed increase in performing it at the ages of 5–9 years.
Counties such as Mandera, Wajir, Samburu, and Isiolo consistently post high FGM prevalence across the years.
HIGHLIGHTS: From 2003 to 2022, Kenya has experienced a commendable reduction in FGM prevalence among women (15–49y) at the national level. However, this progress is not uniform - regional disparities exist.
