Dr. Nasir Ahmad Andisha @AndishaNasir , Afghanistan’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative in Geneva, speaking at an international webinar titled “From the Shadow of Taliban Lobbying to the Mosaic of Peace and Reimagining a Post-Taliban Future,” emphasized that lobbying for the Taliban has occurred at international, regional, and domestic levels. Certain countries have supported the Taliban from a pragmatic or project-driven perspective, while some groups have backed them based on leftist ideologies or ethnic affiliations. However, these lobbying efforts are currently in a weakened and ineffective state. In this context, Russia’s unilateral recognition of the Taliban, without regional consensus, not only failed to legitimize the group but also entangled them in a costly geopolitical game. Contrary to expectations, this decision lacked alignment with the West and garnered no support from other countries. Presently, apart from China, no major country is willing to recognize the Taliban, and the global stance toward them remains cautious and predominantly negative. @AndishaNasir
