Caitlin Clark is making less than $80K a year for the first two years of her contract with the WNBA. This is fucken bullshet. Don't blame the WNBA and don't blame women. The WNBA isn't making enough to pay her more. Why is that? That's the real question.
@BeckyBunzy Yeah have not been enough TV viewers to warrant a huge TV contract with the WNBA. That is where the money comes from. I truly think Caitlin is going to change that. Ratings will be awesome, league gets new TV contract and players Union negotiates huge raises.
@BeckyBunzy If she was a man this would have been a record rookie contract
@BeckyBunzy It's time to address the real issues behind the pay gap in sports. Let's work together to create change and support equality for all athletes.
Why isn't the WNBA making more money? How many games have you been to? - this season? - ever? (I am zero for both, but are you going?)
@BeckyBunzy Wellll how many games did you go to or watch TV? Maybe that starts to change. Changed in NCAA this year
@BeckyBunzy But she will make lots in endorsements too.
@BeckyBunzy It won’t be for long. She’s a phenomenon who will put the WNBA on the map.
@BeckyBunzy Lack of attendance, sponsorship, and merchandise. also the NBA has a 50% ownership stake, which in part help subsidize the WNBA. Hopefully this rookie class can bring in revenue on all three platforms. then rising tides lift all boats...
