If school districts would take time to ask teachers, if you were to think about leaving, what would it take for you to stay. They would quickly find what they need to focus on to improve teachers working conditions.

I just want to know... What goes through the minds of people in power when they decide to ignore teachers who try to ring the alarm on stuff? Do they just believe teachers are incompetent? Do they think teachers are being malicious? Are they being malicious? Like...what is it?

You know what would really help me as a business owner? Universal health care. The money we pay to subsidize employee health care is astronomical and grows every year. I'll happily pay higher taxes to cut out health insurance companies that make $40 billion a year in profit.

I have a hard time with the way people frame burnout as a "self-care" issue rather than "employee care." It's a systemic issue. Instead of asking, "how can we prevent teacher burnout?" leaders and policymakers should ask, "how do we stop burning teachers out?"

Every student deserves to feel safe and welcome in Oregon schools. This summer, I heard from students about how symbols of white supremacy are being used for bullying. I urged the Board of Education to put a stop to it, and I’m pleased that they have taken this action.
