This was Belarusian collaborator Bronislav Kaminski. His brigade was regarded as one of the Nazis’ most brutal units. Kaminski’s behaviour was too much even for the Germans, and in August 1944, he and his top aides were court-martialed and executed.

In 1945, Polish underground leaders accepted a similar invitation from comrade Stalin. Despite "security guarantees", they were arrested and staged in the infamous Trial of the Sixteen. Not all of them saw the end of their imprisonment. Moscow invitations come with handcuffs
