The Catholic Church is now on the forefront of Bible study. I mention that because today is the feast of St. Jerome, one of the great Biblical scholars in the tradition of the Church. He had a great saying, “Ignorance of the Bible is ignorance of Christ.” @thegnewsroom
Three major attributes God has revealed about Himself are protection, healing, and announcing the Good News. The three archangels represent that! @thegnewsroom
To protect, to heal, and to announce salvation. If we were to attempt a job description for God, that would be a pretty good one! That’s what the three archangels do.

The parable we hear in today's Gospel about Lazarus and the rich man has a lot to teach us. I'd like to share four points with you about what Jesus is telling us this morning.

Today is the feast of St. Vincent de Paul. He wanted to help parishes through missions, the poor, and the priests. I’m glad the Church has got Vincent de Paul! @thegnewsroom
Can you think of something really big that happened in @NY_Arch a decade ago? Pope Francis was here! We miss him, and we’re grateful for his visit. @thegnewsroom
Yesterday was a little-known feast of Our Lady of Mercy, also known as Our Lady of Ransom. It’s a beautiful feast about rescuing people from human trafficking, an issue that has always been near to the heart of the Church and Our Blessed Mother. @thegnewsroom
Social commentators will often comment today about a sense of emptiness. For an answer, you don’t have to look further than the Holy Bible. When we seek meaning anywhere besides the Lord, we’re going to be left frustrated.

You know what began last night, right? The new year for our Jewish neighbors! We wish them all a blessed Rosh Hashanah. I’m kind of jealous of them because this is a “new” time of the year. We have a God who is always ready for us to change. @thegnewsroom
You know whose feast it is today: St. Padre Pio! He had a beautiful phrase he’d share when people would ask him about prayers, “The two languages God most understands are silence and tears.” @thegnewsroom
I wish you had been with us yesterday at @StPatsNYC! We had the blessing of this magnificent new artistic gem, the mural the adorns the entrance of St. Patrick’s off 5th Avenue. I’m eager for you to see it! @thegnewsroom
The two agencies on the front line in bringing aid to the people of Gaza regardless of their religion are @CatholicRelief and @CNEWA. It’s not easy to get aid to the people of Gaza, but if anyone can do it, they can! @thegnewsroom
Many have pitched in to bring aid and relief, medicine, and most of all hope and promise in rebuilding Gaza. We’ve been particularly close to those ancient Christian communities in the land that we call holy. Thank you for your support to the struggling Church in Gaza!…
They tell us there’s two ways of looking at our relationship with almighty God. One, that it’s intensely private. The other way is that it’s great to have other people along with us in our faith, knowledge, and love of God! That’s what we see this morning in the Gospel.…
Last Sunday happened to be a pretty big anniversary: the 50th anniversary of the canonization of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. I remember it well because I was there! She was one of ours, now she belongs to Heaven and the Church Universal. @thegnewsroom
“Pastor” is a big word in our Catholic vocabulary. It’s Latin for “shepherd,” and Jesus is of course the Good Shepherd. From pastor we get “pastoral,” which is everything that we do to extend the work of Jesus: charity, teaching, healing, proclaiming, and uniting. These days in…
Today is the feast of St. Robert Bellarmine, a man of towering intellect and deep faith who shows us that in God’s design and the Church’s wisdom, faith and reason are always buddies. @thegnewsroom
This week on Conversation with Cardinal Dolan, I'm joined by Fr. Dave Dwyer to talk about summer vacation, fall business, and the mural we’ll be unveiling and blessing at @StPatsNYC this week.

When I began my studies as a seminarian a priest said to me, "You're going to learn a lot about Jesus. But you also have to make sure that you know Jesus Himself personally. We don't just know about Him - we know Him." That's a great temptation, but not for St. Robert…
We’re all rejoicing in Pope Leo! That wasn’t always the case. In the first four centuries of the Church, to be the Bishop of Rome – the Pope – was a dangerous proposition. I’m thinking of that today because it’s the feast of Pope St. Cornelius, who was martyred for teaching the…
