sometimes i get FOMO about not having gone into a grad degree in NLP right out of my undergrad but then i look at the current NLP landscape and realize that i'm really not missing out on much

@chrisvanderveen @KyleClark pretty crazy that there’s dozens of police standing like 30 feet away and almost a dozen people got shot anyway it’s almost like police don’t prevent crime

@Superbizzee Yeah, from 1803 to now the loss of language, culture, influence etc. has left people very bitter.

Here's 1 reason why some Louisiana Creoles ESPECIALLY older ones fluent in Creole & French don't care to be called American or African American. "Mérikin" is one way of saying English language or Prostestant which is considered by many Creoles to be the antithesis of Creoleness.

Minimizers (COVID is no big deal, bad stuff isn't really happening) have done a lot of damage, but perhaps even worse now are the *normalizers*, who take a centrist position in which they acknowledge that bad stuff is happening but then try to convince people it's ok.
