Just saw Crimes of the Future (Cronenberg, 2022). Dave Deprave at his best. Soundtrack was tops too! Always thought Howard Shore was like Cronenberg’s John Williams, both understanding and elevating the material. This is my favourite score of his to date. music.apple.com/gb/album/crime…

Shared some almonds with the crows and took a wander in the park. Keep wanting to paint this view but can’t get over the feeling that it’s too performative… Would be great to update my brain to get rid of the litany of hang ups like that holding me back from enjoying life more.

Jean Marsh passed away… what a powerhouse of an actor! Her small turn in Frenzy (Hitchcock, 1972) could have been forgettable but she made it unique… And her evil Queen Bavmorda in Willow (Howard, 1988) is my favourite of all live action fantasy antagonists.

Fed a murder of crows 🐦‍⬛ half my snacks whilst taking my pre-dusk walk earlier. When I tried to walk on they all followed me for about 10 minutes. Felt like that John Wicks off Matrix 2.

Where did all the hairy backs go from cinema? Bob Hoskins didn’t care a bit about looking like this in a massive Hollywood production and it’s brilliant. He did cartwheels, pratfalls and fight choreography without feeling the need to look like a Men’s Health fitness model.
