Found my first cd I burned 20+ years ago. Track 1: The Anthem by Good Charlotte. Eccentric mix of burnt cds just hits different than the algorithmically curated music streaming we have today. Maybe it’s just nostalgia speaking, but there’s something special about it.

How to achieve success: Identify a clear goal. Learn the specific tasks, behaviors, and inputs you need to do to achieve a desired goal. Do them over and over. Learn quickly with fast feedback loops. Do the hard work so that it becomes improbable that you don’t succeed

The delta between mediocre and exceptional is both smaller and bigger than you think. Identify the specific behaviors exceptional people take and operationalize these for yourself. Put in the work and you will see how easy it is to improve and how hard it will be to get there.

Being able to tune out all the distractions and hyper-focus on a single hard task/problem/challenge over an extended time is one of the most important skills you can learn. THIS is the skill to learn and hone to set yourself a part from others.

Quality, quality, quality. If you want to create phenomenal user and customer experiences, you NEED to care about the small details. Creating something “good” that gets “positive” feedback is where most stop. This is insidious to teams as it sets the bar far away from great.

If you have a 3-6 month emergency fund, but you have less than $10,000 in additional cash, you put yourself in a weird position where you might need to tap your emergency reserves for unplanned expenses that are not actually emergencies. That’s no good, save more non-emergency $

Completed 2023 spending review and wow! - Daycare is our #1 biggest expense - Cost of healthcare for complicated childbirth cost us $10k as we hit OOP maximum - Basic goods are way more expensive than they used to be & really add up - New tires, fence, washer, & dryer cost $$$

Money is a tool for living a good life. The name of the game is reaching financial independence to do what you want, when you want, with who you love. The goal is not to reach retirement at a certain age, but to live a great life and become financially independent.

Babies are expensive, no way around that. However you can drastically reduce your spending with them. - Buy all wipes and diapers at Costco - Buy all clothes second hand at garage sales or thrift stores - Buy all toys second hand - Breast feed if you can, formula is expensive
