Interesting thing about that small study showing how neuromyths exist in ITE is that one of the myths that persists is extrinsic motivation. Extrinsinc Motivation is RIFE in TLAC and the cogsci cru who use behaviour points/merits to reward & punish constantly to aid learning.

Disappointing court ruling on use of isolation; the usual dehumanising & lazy narrative from @tombennett71 calling children ‘disruptive’ & their peers ‘victims’. And hiding behind ‘try it yourself’ is the last refuge of someone with no real answers, just spin & snake oil to sell.

13/13 The irony of the "Attendance at all Costs" agenda is that we now have thousands of children whose attendance was a concern but whose removal from school doesn't seem to concern anyone. It doesn't have to be like this. It certainly shouldn't be like this. End.

The irony! Track kids behaviour in real time, record it on an App their parents can see & then wonder why they keep checking it… Constant surveillance = hypervigilance Punishing them in real time, via a real time behaviour App, for constantly checking it is a new level of🤯

Talking to a TA/parent Child in son’s class went to Romania for a wk (authorised - family reasons) Whole class missed out on attendance based end of term treat Son told her it was cos they had a ‘migrant’ in their class - but didn’t know what that meant What are we teaching kids?

Class Charts has solved the SEND crisis… Just link rewards to a rewards store & kids can have ‘total control’ over their behaviour Cos they are the ones logging the behaviour points obvs (not teachers) Self-regulation & autonomy Genius, right?

@DeAngelisCorey My teenager is dealing with restrictions on restrooms as well. But this is top-down. They have some new "SmartPass" app where they have to check in to use the restroom. I would love to get some national attention about this draconian app.

@warwickmansell One of my sons has the most stars in his year group. Another is receiving a prize for "best in subject" next week. He won this book of poetry last year representing his school. They both think their school is ridiculous, and has far too many cover lessons.

@KalAhmed4 @DavidNautilus1 Believe me, teachers feel the same, but we are instructed to use the behaviour system of the school. That said some parents will flat deny their child's record of behaviour and so teaching it becomes a necessity. A sad waste of everyone's time because parents won't trust teachers

When students are sorted into ‘good’ & ‘bad’ lists by their teachers what impact does that have? And does behaviour management software like 🔴ClassCharts🟢encourage this Black & White thinking? (ClassCharts was down yesterday 🎉)
