Today’s surprise assembly was for our principal Dr. Richmon. There was a song, a poem, a survival kit, a story and rap and much more presented. Many Ss said thank you, we will miss you and good luck at your new school. #sadtoseeyougo @bayviewglenps1

Last week, we combined artmaking and the outdoors for #takemeoutsideday. We focussed on drawing trees. The 4/5s learned about the grey scale, using a smudger for shading and creating different lines. @bayviewglenps1 @YRDSBArts

What do you know about writing a letter? Using their whiteboards, Ss share their thinking and what they already know about letter writing. This is a fun way to identify student’s prior knowledge and it helps to start the class discussion. @bayviewglenps1

We wore orange today to say “every child matters” and to support all those affected by residential schools in 🇨🇦. Ss learned a little about what that might be like and increased their understanding of this part of history. 🧡#NationalDayforTruthandReconciliation @bayviewglenps1

Our class talked about treaties and identified the treaty land our school and homes are on, which is Treaty 13. We then focussed on our board’s land acknowledgment and discussed words like treaty people, responsibility and respect for our land and water. @bayviewglenps1
