Although summer is in full swing, September will be here before we know it. We shift our attention to back to school preparations in August, and ClearView would like to remind everyone of the importance of eye care prior to school.
These IOL's come in standard spherical shapes, however there are more specialized IOL's available. Toric IOL's are used to correct astigmatism and multifocal/trifocal IOL's allow patients to see distance + intermediate (computer) + near.
June was Cataract Awareness Month. If someone has a visually-significant cataract, he/she needs to be referred to an ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract surgery. Cataract surgery involves extraction of the cataracts, which are then replaced by intraocular lenses (IOL's).

Failure of your eye muscles to work together properly can lead to strabismus. It's estimated that 5% of all children have some type of strabismus. Although rare, strabismus can sometimes begin in adulthood; this is usually the result of stroke, tumour or other vascular disease.
A crossed eye is referred to clinically as strabismus. It is a muscle condition in which your eyes are not properly aligned with each other, resulting in double vision or suppression of the image from the affected eye. One or both of your eyes may turn in, out, up or down.
