To determine when a random encounter should be triggered we count the distance the Player character walked. The distance can be randomized within a certain range and it would also be easy to add in item effects to increase the distance until encounters.

@CobraCodeDev Very cool. Method i was contemplating involved anim notifies on the footsteps linked to a weighted bool that would increment slowly up after each fail. It could pull data from area overlaps for encounter data or increased/decreased incrementation rates
