Officially starting my maternity leave today! My Twitter account will be quiet in the coming months and I will not be taking on any new students until summer 2020 at the earliest. Wishing you a lovely holiday season, happy 2020, and best wishes for this application cycle! 🙂

Just in: UC Berkeley Chancellor Carol Christ just announced her support of dropping the SAT and ACT as an admissions requirement. Says research has convinced her the tests" really contribute to the inequities" of the system.

Me: "Please share all Nov 1st essays with me by Sunday at the latest." (PS most of these were originally assigned over a month ago) Tuesday morning: 32 new essays in inbox. Many with a "Hey, I need feedback on this by tomorrow so can you do this ASAP?"

Things I would not recommend: Being in the third trimester of a pregnancy during college application deadline season. No wine and limited caffeine is rough!

If you are working with an applicant today concerned by the message they’re seeing on @CommonApp please tell them they have until midnight tonight their time for EA consideration. And then give them a hug & tell them it will all be ok.
