With students back, we remind pet owners that in the interest of public health and safety, dogs are not permitted to be on school yards, or playground equipment at any time. Animal Bylaw Enforcement Officers will be focusing patrols in and around school properties.
Happy Heritage Day weekend! Out enjoying the parks and greenspaces? So are we. Enforcement Officers are out conducting patrols around the city, specifically targeting off-leash and restricted area violations. Fines under the Animal Care and Control Bylaw start at $100.
The Lethbridge Animal Shelter and office will be closed on Monday, August 4, for Heritage Day Holiday. Online reporting, found pet profiles, and license renewals are available online at communityanimalservices.ca. For an animal control emergency, please call 403-320-4099 (opt 1).

The team has been very busy the last few days, trying to keep up with the high call volume and managing a nearly full shelter. Our Officers have been responding to multiple loose dog calls every day, with a majority of the impounded pets not getting claimed. Please be patient.
