Weather warnings: issued by NOAA Radar: maintained by NOAA Ground truth: observed by NOAA Hi-resolution models: produced by NOAA Without NOAA, it would be much harder to predict and detect storms in advance, making you more vulnerable to severe weather.

Tulsa broadcast meteorologist here — I can 100% confirm this is not true. 95% of the technology we utilize is fed data from NOAA/NWS. Dismantling of these programs makes us less equipped to keep people safe.

Since last night, I've seen more than a few folks saying "so what if they cut, we survived without the NWS before." Below is a comparison of 5+ death toll tors before & after the first tornado forecast in 1948. Cut by over half, and that's with 2 Super Outbreaks as outliers.
